Falling Action
Geyer started his investigation by interviewing Holmes in his cell, Holmes insisted that the three children were with Minnie Williams and he did nothing of the sort to hurt them. But of course that wasn't the whole truth. To the children, their father was still alive but had gone missing, obviously not the case and that Holmes had murdered him and made it look like he died in an explosion. Oblivious to the fact that Holmes was a killer the children embarked on a journey all through Pennsylvania to Indiana with him because of the words of Holmes saying their father missed them dearly. Geyer followed the four from state to state, hotel to hotel as Holmes would leave behind different names and even go to the trouble of them staying at different hotels. At each state Geyer kept loosing hope, knowing that these three children were at risk. Many testified the odd things that were done by Holmes, one man from Indianapolis who had sharpened medical tools for Holmes, a man who had wanted a gas stove put in his basement and so on. Geyer inspecting the remains of the gas stove was appalled to see human teeth, organs and bones lying in ashes, and one thing in particular that stood out; Howard Pitezels favorite toy. In the years later came the wonder that there were hundreds of people to come to the fair and were never heard from again. The list of the missing (woman especially) went on and on. The big question was did these women find their way to his castle through his charm and were never to return again?
